Arctic Himart - DCT

Arctic Himart - DCT Process

Cryogenic Treatment
  • Cryogenic treatment is the Ultra low temperature processing of tools/Components to enhance their desired metallurgical and structure properties.
  • The Process temperature is about -196 Deg. Centigrade.
  • Slowly cooling a Tools/ Components to Deep Cryogenic Temperature and soaking it at this low temperature for number of hours changes the steel microstructure.

Importance of Arctic Himart - DCT Treatment

Metallurgical changes resulting from Arctic Himart deep cryogenic seen via SEM/TEM/EBSD.

  • Complete the Austenite to martensite without embrittlement.
  • Precipitation of fine primary and secondary (eta) carbides.
  • Lattice phase change from face centric to body centric tetragonal.
  • Material grain refinement; edge and boundary diffusion.

Arctic Himart - DCT

Arctic Himart DCT services specialize in the Deep cryogenic treatment of tools and components by exposing them to temperature below -150 deg. Centigrade.
Target benefits include increased resistance to wear, abrasion, pitting and spalling while reducing residual stresses for longer use life.

Arctic Himart - DCT Benifits

  • Environment friendly
  • Green process
  • LN2 is used
  • Complete Automated process.
  • Lower tool cost because of increase in tool life
  • Less production cost due to less machine downtime.
  • ARCTIC-HIMART® can still be modified and repaired.
  • Stabilization of dimensions though tight mfg. tolerances
  • Complete the Austenite to martensite without embrittlement.
  • From start to finish it is computer programmed and controlled.
  • Precipitation of fine primary and secondary (eta) carbides.
  • Lattice phase change from face centric to body centric tetragonal.
  • Tooling costs reduces through significantly higher anti-wear surface quality that requires significantly less rework
  • Lattice phase change from face centric to body centric tetragonal.
  • Reduction in machine downtimes and correction maintenance costs through low maintenance

Arctic cryogenics is extension of our surface treatment division where we already providing different surface treatment services like Plasma nitriding, Gas Nitriding, High gloss polishing.
